Erik: I remember being approached by different agencies since the age of 16, but I signed my first contract at 23.
SM: How were you "discovered" or how did you get into modelling?
Erik: I can remember being approached in shopping
malls, and being chased down on a hiking trail in Banff, but for Sophia Models,
I was on my school campus and got a card from a scout. I am from Edmonton, so I started my modelling
career with another agency, but after my second year in Calgary I still had
that scout’s card and gave Bill a call to meet up and see what his agency was
about.
SM: What
is the best part about modelling?
Erik: I enjoy the variety of the jobs and clients, the
confidence that modelling instills in me, and a bit of extra cash now and then
doesn’t hurt either J
SM: What
is the biggest misconception about models or the modelling industry?
Erik: Since I have been in this industry I have
met some very intelligent people who are kind and also humble.
Erik: I have always enjoyed runway shows with the
challenge of fast changes and a high paced atmosphere. As I get more experience with photoshoots, my
enjoyment with them increases and I am able to continue to push myself outside
of my comfort zone.
SM: What
do you do when you are not modelling?
Erik: I am in the final months of a Respiratory
Therapy program and I have been completing my practicum at the Foothills
Hospital in Calgary. That has been
taking up the majority of my time, but I also love to get out to the mountains
to snowboard when I can, strap on the pads and play goalie on the ice, relax
with my girlfriend Lauren, and take a break from the textbooks to read for fun.

SM: Where
are your favourite places to shop?
Erik: I always find I stop I stop into Harry
Rosen and Henry Singer. I also like checking
out Zara and H&M.
SM:What is your favourite quote or motto?
Erik: No act of kindness, no matter how small, is
ever wasted - Aesop
SM: Describe your favorite local hang-out?
Erik: It would be in a trendy pub-like setting
with a pint and some close friends.
SM: What
is the last song you played on your iPod?
Erik: I was just at the gym and Hallowed Be Thy
Name came on by Iron Maiden… that gave me an extra boost!
SM: Describe
yourself in one word.
Erik: Perceptive.
Or Quiet.
SM: What advice would you give to someone who is aspiring to model?
Erik: Always be early, be professional, be respectful and say thank you.
